Author's Note: "Both DES and MEPN have many examples of women's forenames used as metronymic surnames. I have included many of the earlier examples as giving information on possible spelling variants, since in almost all cases these exhibit true metronymics. Since there seem to be some fairly consistent differences in the way given names and metronymics were recorded, however, I have marked these forms by appending a '*'. "

Per the PicDic - The “Danish axe” and the “Lochaber axe” are similar in form... The Lochaber axe, as used in Scots heraldry, is similar but defined by a hook at the end [Parker 29]. The distinction between it and the Danish axe, such as it is, is considered simply a guide to the artist; pending period heraldic examples of the Lochaber axe, it is no longer registerable in the Society.
Cristine Tailleur. Device. Argent, a chevron rompu purpure between two square weaver's tablets vert and a Lochaber axe, a bordure sable. The curved haft of this depiction of the Lochaber axe does not appear to have any documentable period source, either in heraldic/artistic depictions or in extant weaponry of any pole axe. To date, the only heraldic depiction of a poleaxe with a curved haft is the Danish axe, as seen in late-period depictions of the arms of Norway. We will give the submitter the benefit of the doubt in registering this device, but absent documentation, we will cease allowing other poleaxes with curved hafts after the May 2018 LoAR. https://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2017/12/17-12lar.html#131
The lochaber axe is the family axe (see below), so will need to invoke the "grandfather clause".
3. Existing Registration Allowance: Armorial elements which are registered to an individual or branch may be used in a new submission by that individual or branch, even if they are no longer allowed under the rules. Only the exact, actual elements which are registered may be used, not variants or patterns. The use of the existing registration allowance does not allow the submitter to evade new style problems (as discussed in A.1 through A.3). It only allows the submitter to evade style problems that already exist with their registered armory.
An armorial element from a registered piece of armory of an individual may also be registered by a close legal relative...
Documentation under the existing registration allowance does not exempt a design from conflict, presumption, or offense rules, unless that rules violation is itself part of the existing registration in question.
